A large amount of these materials detail a educational trip Samick made to Africa (Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Ghana) to help organized labor in the early 1990s.

Erie machinists initially were chartered as an American Federation of Labor affiliate, then reorganized as National Association of Machinists' Local Lodge 101 (both in 1890).
