Originally founded in Atlanta in 1888 as a trade union for railroad machinists, today the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers represents workers in a large and diverse number of fields.

Abstract
The collection consists of 169 agreements, 1940-1992, between various local unions of the International Association of Machinists or the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and numerous manufacturing and transportation corporations, government facilities, labor unions, and other entities.
Arrangement
The collection is divided into three series: contracts between the International Association of Machinists, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and the International Associaiton of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, District Lodge 837 (St. Louis, Mo.).
