The Chattanooga Building Trades Council is a subsidiary of the AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades Department. The records, 1901-1968, of the Chattanooga Building Trades Council are composed primarily of correspondence, limited financial records, and work agreements.

Scope and Content of the Records The Records, 1944-1977, of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 175 (Chattanooga, Tenn.), comprise primarily correspondence, minutes, and financial documents of two IBEW local unions in Chattanooga, 175 and 662, as well as of the Electrical Workers Welfare Association in the area. Stanton E. Smith (born 1905) was a labor leader in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He served as President of the Tennessee Federation of Labor and of the Tennessee State Labor Council. Smith's papers, 1938-1973, are comprised primarily of correspondence and other documents relating to his duties in those organizations, the Chattanooga Central Labor Union, and the Southern Labor School. The papers also include photographs and printed material.
