Historical Note about the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America
Originally formed in 1914, the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA) was a leader in industrial organizing and an early affiliate of the Congress of Industrial Organizations.
The ACWA merged into the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union in 1976. Subsequent mergers led to the union UNITE HERE. See the UNITE HERE Website for more information.
