Abstract:

The Georgia-Tennessee-Alabama Area Joint Board of the Textile Workers Union of America (TWUA-GTA) provides support and leadership to the several TWUA local unions in northwest Georgia, northeast Alabama, and the Chattanooga area of Tennessee. Its records, 1952-1980, consist of correspondence, minutes, contract negotiation papers, grievance cases and printed items of the six TWUA Local unions in the area.

The collection consists of oral history interviews and transcripts, production footage and publicity materials related to the creation of the "Uprising of '34" documentary. Thomas H. Crim, Jr. (1918-2000) lived in Evans, Georgia, from around 1935. The majority of his papers consists of editorials, articles, and letters to the editor from the Augusta Chronicle, and documents Crim's opposition to the Chronicle's stance on gay rights, and, to a lesser extent, smokers' rights.

Thomas Pesnicak PATCO collection

Thomas Pesnicak was a member of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) and served as president of Local 204 in Leesburg, Virginia. In August of 1981, Pesnicak was fired alongside approximately 11,000 other PATCO members for participating in an illegal strike against the federal government. The Thomas Pesnicak collection consist primarily of photographs, artifacts, and one periodical.

Tom Ducy served as General Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), 1987-1993. Collection includes an IAM constitution, 1913; and minutes of IAM Lodge 47, also know as the Pioneer Lodge (Commerce City, Colo.),1889-1891; and a jurisdictional agreement that was part of a collective bargaining agreement with the Curtiss-Wright Corporation Airplane Division, St. Louis Plant, 1942.
