Scope and Content of the Records
The collection mainly consists of contract files, which includes negotiations and correspondence. The arbitration files include court cases and transcripts, as well as grievances and more correspondence. Arbitration and contract negotiations of Local 1767 were often over seniority, work place issues, and grievances. The office records consist of files for the day to day affairs of the local. Also included are some OSHA safety records concerning Beryllium and machine standards from the company (Loral American Beryllium Co., Inc.) as well as materials related to strikes in 1983 and 1992. Some artifacts of the local include constitution books, minutes, contracts and agreement booklets.

Historical Note about the International Association of Machinists, Local Lodge 1767
The International Association of Machinists Local Lodge No. 1767 was chartered in 1961 in Sarasota, Florida. Most of the members worked for Loral American Beryllium Company, Inc. The lodge was decertified in March 1994.
