The Records, 1925-1978, of United Brotherhood of Carpenter's (UBC) Local 2261 (Ft. Myers, Fla.) are composed of financial documents, minutes, journeyman carpenter examinations, correspondence, and miscellaneous printed material. The collection's documentation of wage negotiations, attempts to increase employment of Local 2261 members, local union finances, the local's relationship with the UBC District Council, and its community service projects in the Ft. Myers area reveal the local's growth and maturation both as a bargaining agent for its members and as an active participant in area civic affairs.

Local 2261 absorbed Local 2895, of nearby Punta Gorda, Florida, in 1967.
