Scope and Contents of the Papers

Judy Tabb papers, 1981-2008, document Tabb's leadership roles in Planned Parenthood of the Atlanta Area and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., as well as the Atlanta Women's Foundation and Women Business Owners, Inc. Formats in the papers include correspondence, minutes, printed material, artifacts, and legal and business records.

Biography of Judy Tabb

Judy Tabb received her undergraduate degree in English from Newcomb College in 1964. In 1965-1967, she volunteered with the Peace Corps in Tanzania as a middle school English teacher. In 1971 Tabb graduated from Tulane University Law School and was the Associate Editor for the Tulane University Law Review. From 1972-1974, she worked for Hansell, Post, Brandon and Dorsey as an Associate working with securities, corporate finance, and the real estate's department. Tabb went on to receive her L.L.M in Taxation from Emory University in 1976. Tabb went to work with Carr, Pope and Freeman in 1976, later becoming a partner, Carr, Tabb, Pope and Freeman to present. The firm represents a variety of large and small business clients, with an emphasis on corporate finance, real estate, mergers and acquisitions and tax-structured transactions. Tabb has extensive experience with publishing and television contracts for writers. Civic activities included Auditory Education Center where she was a board member from 1988-1994, State Board of Accountancy, member from 1980-1988 and was Chairman in 1985, she was also a member of the Women Business Owners from 1989-1992 and finally was a member and mentor at the Midtown Business Alliance from 1993 to 1995.

In her capacity working for Planned Parenthood of Georgia, Tabb was a member of the Board of Directors from 1981-1986, 1988-1994, 1996-2001, as Chair from 1992-1994. She was also Chair of the Board of Development; Personnel, Bylaws, Resource Development, Strategic Planning and Reinvention Committees and a member of the Planned Giving, Action Fund at various times to present.

In her capacity working for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, she was a board member of the Affiliates Presidents Council (APC) from 1996-1997; Board Member at Large from 1998-2002; Vice Chair of the Board in 2001; Trademark Committee member 1994-1997; Bylaws Committee Member from 1996-2002 and as Chair from 1999-2001; Development Advisory Group member 1995; Finance Committee Member from 1998-2002; Real Estate Task Force from 1999-2000; Audit Subcommittee from 1999-2002; Task Force on Reserve Policy 1999-2004(?); National Office Planning Committee from 1999-2004; Bioethics Task Force; Chair CEO for the Evaluation Task Force and Task Force for Policy Holders Council Reorganization in 2001; Chair of the Eastern Region from 2002-2003. Tabb was also a Board Member of Planned Parenthood Action Fund from 1999-2002 and Treasurer and Liaison to the Finance Committee from 2000-2002.
