The AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education (COPE) Area 3 covers the region comprising Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Its records, 1970-1979, consist primarily of correspondence and printed material generated by the state labor federations in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina and West Virginia.
Cathey W. Steinberg papers
Cathey W. Steinberg was recognized as a leader for consumer, family, and women's rights during her service in the Georgia House of Representatives (1977-1989) and Georgia Senate (1991-1993). Her papers consist of correspondence, newsclippings, legislation, printed materials, reports, speeches, and campaign materials, 1976-1994, that document her public service and political campaigns.
D. Bruce Shine collection
D. Bruce Shine workded as an attorney in Kingsport, Tennessee. He specialized in labor law and served as the General Council for the United Textile Workers of America. The D. Bruce Shine collection, 1928-1982, consists of legal case files and personal files.
David Herman papers
The David Herman Papers, 1954-1967, contains scrapbook materials, newspaper clippings, telegrams, and printed materials relating to his presidency of the Hotel Employee's and Bartenders International Union, Local 6 (New York, NY); his work as an organizer of the Hotel Employees' Union, Local 255 (Miami, FL); the hotel employees' strike, 1955-1959, and his campaign for Miami City Council in 1967.
David J. Worley papers
David Worley, an Atlanta attorney, ran unsuccessful Congressional campaigns against Republican Newt Gingrich in 1988 and 1990. Newspaper clippings make up much of the David Worley papers. Almost all of the collection is from the 1988 and 1990 Congressional races.

The collection of Jesse Walton, 1949-1950, consists of clippings and correspondence describing the railway workers strikes, 1949-1950 and Walton's political contest against Hoke Smith in 1950.
Liane Levetan papers
Liane Levetan was the first women elected to the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, where she represented District 2 for 10 years, and in 1993, she was the first female CEO of DeKalb County and served in that position for two terms from 1993-2000. From 2002-2004, Levetan served as a member of the Georgia General Assembly. The materials in this collection reflect Levetan's career prior to, during, and after her time in DeKalb and Georgia politics.
Nan Grogan Orrock papers
Nan Orrock has served as a senator and as a representative in Georgia's State Legislature since 1987, and as president of the Women Legislators' Lobby. She has worked to balance budgets; to increase spending on assisting families, education health and child care; and to reduce excessive and wasteful military spending. Her papers include correspondence, printed material, and financial records, that document legislation, political campaigns, and issues, 1969-2010 (bulk 1990-2006).
Vicki McLennan papers
Vicki Anne McLennan, a lobbyist for non-profit organizations, public policy analyst, and political consultant, began her lobbying career in 1985. Printed material, notes and other writings, correspondence, legal documents, minutes and agendas, financial records, photographic prints and textiles make up Vicki McLennan's records of her activities as an activist, lobbyist, organizer, and administrator.
