Riley Puckett collection

Abstract:

Riley Puckett (1894-1946), a vocalist, guitarist and banjo player, was one of the most recorded performers in early country music. He performed with many Atlanta area country groups and frequently on Atlanta radio. The collection consists of a brief biography of and list of recordings made by Riley Puckett, and nine photographic images of Puckett, his family, and contemporary country musicians.

Country musician Ruel Parker (1924-1991) played the fiddle, mandolin and bass with many groups and performed Atlanta and nationally broadcast radio programs. Tex Forman papers

Abstract:

Originally from Kentucky, Otho Woodrow "Tex" Forman worked as a member of several country bands. In Atlanta, Forman was known as one of Pop Eckler's bandmates, appearing as part of Pop Eckler and His Young'Uns on WSB's "Cross Roads Follies" show in 1936. His papers contain twenty-eight photographs and photocopies of songbooks and lyrics, handbills, and articles.

Mr. Thomas D. Archer joined The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 926 in 1946 and was elected the Business Manager of the local in 1950. The Thomas D. The collection consists primarily of artifacts and non-printed materials, collected through Jenkins' association with the UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) and the RCIA (Retail Clerks International Association) Local 1063. The bulk of these artifacts are plaques presented to Jenkins in recognition of his continual achievements in his field. Other artifacts include memorabilia from conventions, including convention brochures, as well as photographs.
