The collection consists of the papers of L. E. Marler, 1957-, 1965-1973, pertaining primarily to the Steering Committee of the southern States Apprenticeship Conference (SSAC), of which Marler was chairman. Annual conferences, 1965-1973, were planned and conducted by this committee. Also included is material concerning the Houston Apprenticeship Information Center.

Series I consists of minutes of weekly staff meetings and reports, March 5-July 4, 1974. Strategies were discussed and planned to obtain the removal of nonunion grapes, lettuce and Gallo products from local grocery stores. These stores were targets for leafletting and for picketing and boycotts.
