Scope and Content of the Records
The records, 1888-1957, of the International Association of Machinists Lodge 10 (Richmond, VA), consist primarily of financial documents and minute books. The financial documents consist of dues ledgers, 1888-1956, cash books, 1902-1956, and audit reports, 1913-1938. The minute books describe the activities of Lodge 10 from 1891 to 1957. The remainder of the collection consists of a small amount of correspondence, 1900-1947, and printed material, 1902-1956, that relate to IAM activities at both the local and national levels.

Historical Note
Originally founded in Atlanta in 1888 as a trade union for railroad machinists, today the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers represents workers in a large and diverse number of fields. Over the course of the 20th century the machinists moved from representing railroad workers to machinists and others working for airlines and the aerospace industry.
Local Lodge 10, represented machinists working in Richmond, Virginia.
