Scope and Content of the Records
The Records, 1940-1968, of the Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union, Southeastern Region are composed of correspondence, financial documents and company files which include cases brought before the NLRB. Notable cases are the elections and unfair labor practice charges at Caldwell Packaging Company, 1958-1959; Avon Products, Inc., 1963; the Auto Dealers, 1963-1964; General Seat & Back Manufacturing Company, 1956 and Southeastern Mills, Inc., 1958-1959. The material, principally centered around Georgia affairs, bulks in the 1956-1964 period.

Abstract:
The collection consists of records of the Southeastern Region of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (formed 1954) and its predecessor, the United Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Employees of America, from 1940-1968. Contains primarily company files which include cases brought before the National Labor Relations Board dealing mainly with elections and unfair labor practice charges. Also includes correspondence (1940-1967), minutes (1959-1961), financial documents (1951-1961), printed material (1941-1964), and general files (1946-1966).
