Scope and Contents of the Collection

The collection consists primarily of photographs of the 1976 Georgia State AFL-CIO annual meeting, attended by such Georgia political figures as Jimmy Carter, George Busbee, and Herman Talmadge. Georgia State AFL-CIO president Herbert Mabry and the organization's officers are featured prominently, as are other leaders in the state's labor movement. The small collection of films, 1954, 1960, 1968-1976, were primarily produced by the AFL-CIO. The sound recordings, undated, are radio spots produced by the Georgia AFL-CIO.

The Georgia State AFL-CIO was created in 1957 by the merger of the Georgia State Industrial Union Council (CIO) and the Georgia Federation of Labor (AFL).
