Historical Note

South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development (SAND) is an umbrella organization that was formed in 1979 to serve the residents and businesses of the South East Atlanta neighborhoods situated between Grant Park and East Atlanta. This includes the neighborhoods of Benteen Park, Boulevard Heights, Gleenwood Park, Custer McDonough-Guice, North Ormewood Park, and Woodland Hills. The all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation brings together residents from the seven neighborhoods for the purpose of improving the quality of life within our community, to promote discussions of issues affecting our neighborhoods, and to promote a sense of community pride and belonging.
