Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Southern Visual Storytelling collection contains popular and independently pubslished illustrated and visual texts, such as comic books. The collection includes publications created by Atlanta based artists and authors, printed in Georgia, published in the South, and other illustrated and visual publications that were created by and/or in the Southern United States. The collection includes books published by Marvel Comics and independent publishers, such as IV Wall Comics. It dates from 1968 to 2023 with the majority of materials from 2020 to 2022.

The Southern Visual Storytelling collection primarily contains comic books and other illustrated and visual texts that were created by and/or in the Southern United States. The collection includes books published by Marvel Comics, independent publishers and self-published works, such as IV Wall Comics. It dates from 1968 to 2023 with the majority of materials from 2020 to 2023.

Arrangement

Arranged in 2 series based on the location of the authors, artists, publishers, and printing: I. Atlanta, GA Artists and Authors and II. Southern Authors, Prints, and Publishers. Each series is arranged alphabetically based on the title of the publication.

Acquisition Information

This collection contains materials purchased from various comic book stores, collectors, and publishers.
