Biographic Note

Donated by David Yoakley Mitchell, the M.H. Mitchell, Inc. collection was created to continue the work of its namesake, Martin Hardin “Buddy” Mitchell, who served on the Rome City Commission and managed Dellinger Inc. - a Northwest Georgia Carpet Mill - instilled a devotion of civic duty in all who knew him. Understanding that losing the memories of our past would diminish the “story” for those who followed. Yet - the past is complex and must be inclusive. That is why this collection of materials attempts to provide a broad exposure to the experience of many - and those challenges that have shaped our current experiences.

Martin Hardin “Buddy” Mitchell passed away on the 11th of February 1997.
