The collection consists of notes, oral history transcripts, correspondence, photocopied manuscript materials, and book proofs acquired and created by Cliff Kuhn and Les Hough while writing their history of the Sheet Metal Workers, Generations of Sheet Metal Craftmanship: A History of the Unionized Industry in Georgia. Georgia State University historians, Kuhn and Hough worked in association with Sheet Metal Workers' International Association Local 85 and the Central Georgia Sheet Metal Contractors Association, Inc. (both of Atlanta, Georgia) on the project.

History of the Sheet Metal Workers History Project Research Collection

In 1982-1983, GSU History Professor Cliff Kuhn and Southern Labor Archivist Les Hough researched, wrote, and published a short history of the Sheet Metal Workers Union in Atlanta, Georgia. The fruit of their labor, Generations of Sheet Metal Craftsmanship: A History of the Unionized Industry in Georgia, detailed the history of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, specifically local 85 and the Central Georgia Sheet Metal Contractors Association, Inc.
