Scope and Content of the Series
Series III, State and Local Councils, 1948-1974, contains correspondence documenting the relationship between the AFL-CIO regional offices, the North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee state AFL-CIO offices, and various city and county central bodies, including some building and trades councils. There is some material from the pre-merger CIO and AFL state organizations. Much of the material relates to organizing the state and local bodies with some documentation for on-going assistance provided to these bodies by the regional office. These records are arranged by state and then alphabetically by local body.
