Scope and Content of the Subseries
Sub-Series A consists of notes, testimony, petitions, correspondence, legal documents, clippings, newsletters, reports, and press releases that reflect McLennan's involvement with child support and custody issues in Georgia. The subseries documents most completely McLennan's service on the Joint Study Committee on Child Support (1994) and her subsequent efforts as a lobbyist during the Legislature's debates on child support and custody bills in 1995-1996. The subseries contains collected information on the Children's Rights Council of Georgia (formerly the Georgia Council for Children's Rights), an advocacy group for divorced fathers. Legal documents and correspondence regard its founder, Horace "Sonny" Burmeister (1949-1996), with whom McLennan served on the Joint Study Committee.
