Scope and Content of the Subseries

Subseries A: Correspondence, 1952-1976 contains letters and supporting materials to and from regional officers such as Jack G. Handler, Regional Counsel plus Directors E.T. Kehrer's, Martin J. Morand's and Nick Bonanno's files of correspondence copies. This subseries also contains correspondence files for ILGWU national officers which are arranged alphabetically by the officers' names. SERO office managers' correspondence (1967-1973) follows and is arranged chronologically. The next area of this subseries is correspondence to and from business agents, and it is arranged alphabetically by the agent's surname. This subseries final component, "General Correspondence," is arranged alphabetically by the agent's, officer's, or company's name and contains membership rosters, reimbursement and benefit correspondence and corresponds to an office's reading files.

Within the subseries is a letter to E.T. Kehrer (1963) from Local 122 regarding Martin Luther King, Jr. and labor unions. Letters reflecting Maynard Jackson's relationship to the union and Jack G. Handler, Regional Counsel, from 1968 to 1970 are found in this subseries within Handler's files (8).
