SCNA Cabinet on Governmental Affairs: Health Policy Committee: Correspondence, 1986-1987
Scope and Content of the Subseries
The subseries shows the stability SCNA achieved with Judith Thompson, who served in the position for more than two decades, as Executive Director. The subseries documents SCNA increasing its legislative influence with a political action committee and its workshops for members, becoming further involved with nursing education in South Carolina, adapting to the needs of a changing profession by serving advanced practice and other nurses, and meeting nurses' needs in the workplace through the Impaired Nurses Program.
Early files in the subseries constitute expansions of files begun by Judith Ann Fickling. Note that the files for 1988 were filed according to a new pattern. The subseries contains four sets of files:
- 1985 files, 1973-1986
- 1986 files, 1970, 1976-1979, 1981, 1983-1987
- 1987 files, 1966, 1969-1980, 1982-1987
- 1988-1989 files, 1982-1991
