Scope and Content of the Subseries

Records in this subseries reflect SCNA's collaborations with other organizations, including joint committees for specific ends formed with the South Carolina Medical Association, the South Carolina League for Nursing (SCLN), the Student Nurses Association of South Carolina (SNASC), and the Georgia Nurses Association. Additionally, the subseries documents ongoing collaborations of the various nursing groups in South Carolina, in the Joint Board of Directors of the Four State Nursing Organizations (South Carolina State Nurses Association, State League of Nursing Education, State Association of Industrial Nurses, State Organization for Public Health Nursing) and the South Carolina Forum on Nursing.

The subseries includes organizational records of the Inter-Association Committee on the Improvement of Nursing Services (1964-1971) and its three-year Program of Continuing Education for Nurses in South Carolina, funded by a grant from the United States Public Health Service. Records portray SCNA's administration of the project, co-sponsored by the South Carolina Hospital Association and SCLN, and include files created by Principal Instructor Louise Kent.
