Scope and Content of the Subseries
The subseries contains records of programs, a political action committee, and a foundation which SCNA chartered. Though these entities were responsible to the Board of Directors, and the programs were also under the management of the Executive Director, independent staff of the entities created many of these records. Generally, Series I, II, and VI document the origins and development of these bodies more fully.
Records of the Economic Security Program (ESP) are relatively extensive. They include files created by SCNA's paid organizer, which document the association's activity as a union, including its successful effort at Charleston Naval Hospital. See Subseries D.1 for SCNA's involvement in a continuing education project (Inter-Association Committee on the Improvement of Nursing Services, 1964-1971).
The subseries contains records of:
- Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP)/Continuing Education Approval and Recognition Program (CEARP), 1975-1983
- Economic Security Program (ESP), 1967-1972
- South Carolina Nurses Association Political Action Committee (SCNA-PAC), 1984-1988
