Fifth district membership rosters, 1971, 1981-1983, 1985

Records maintained by the Fifth District office pertaining to membership. Files include membership rolls, cards files, bulletins, and directories.

This subseries is divided into two sets of files:

• Sub-subseries 1: Fifth district membership rolls, 1943-1976, 1981-1989. This series contains the membership card files maintained by the district from 1943 to 1968. It also includes membership bulletins, membership directories (1961-1969), and membership rolls broken down by section. In addition this series contains the American Nurses' Association computer-generated membership lists compiled from dues records for the fifth district that superseded the older card files. Note: Some files in this sub-subseries contain personal information and are restricted. The restrictions are noted.
• Sub-subseries 2: Alumnae Association membership, 1950-1959. This series contains lists of fifth district members broken down by alumnae association membership. The alumnae association was the smallest organizational unit within GNA which nurses joined on graduation. This was especially important in the fifth district which contained numerous nursing educational institutions that produced a steady stream of new nurses to fill the needs of the multiple hospitals in the Atlanta metro area.
