Scope and Contents of the Subseries

From the Sub-Series:

This subseries includes records documenting Dr. Fowlkes' leadership roles on task forces and committees of various Political Science and Women's Studies organizations. Notable in this subseries is the documentation of Fowlkes' chairmanship of the American Political Science Association Task Force on Women and American Government (1981-1986) and her service in several official capacities in the Women's Caucus for Political Science. Records on the Feminist Action Alliance conferences (1976-1977), which provided information to Georgia women on political involvement and running for office, and the Georgia Sexual Assault Task Force, are also featured. Several files document Fowlkes' leadership in the National Women's Studies Association 10th anniversary meeting, particularly the commemorative quilt made to mark the anniversary.

This subseries primarily documents Dr. Fowlkes' service to associations outside Georgia State University. For committee and task force records within Georgia State, see Series II, Subseries C.

Several test editions by members of the American Political Science Association Task Force project "Citizenship and Change: Women and American Politics" were published by the American Political Science Association during the early and mid 1980s. These publications have been catalogued and added to the Women's Collection books.
