Women's Educational Equity Act grant: conference papers, 1981
Scope and Contents note
Subseries B covers the grants that Dr. Fowlkes received during the course of her career. Documented here is a grant from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, for which Dr. Fowlkes and Dr. Denise Donnelly (Georgia State University Department of Sociology) applied in 1994. The grant, which was to study interpersonal violence among older children, apparently was not awarded. The remaining folders in the subseries consist of the records of the Women's Educational Equity Act Program grant, titled "A Model for Gender-Balancing the General Curriculum in Higher Education." The three-year grant (1979-1982) resulted in a conference, "A Fabric of our Own Making," held at Georgia State in March 1981. At the conference, Southern scholars on women examined gender-balancing activities in the classroom. The materials in this subseries include grant applications, descriptions of the project, conference papers, and publicity for "A Fabric of our Own Making." (For more archival materials on the Women's Educational Equity Act project and conference, see G1984-16, especially Boxes 8 and 10-14.)
