Promotion and tenure notebook: professional development section, P.6-P.7.A, 1988-1990

Most of Subseries A is made up of three promotion and tenure notebooks, dating, respectively, from 1978, 1979, and 1988-1990. These notebooks contain cumulative documentation of Dr. Fowlkes' career at Georgia State University, including copies of articles, correspondence, evidence of service on committees and professional associations, and materials related to teaching. These materials, which are organized into the categories of professional development, instruction, and service, provide evidence of the scope and content of Dr. Fowlkes' professional career: The 1978 and 1979 notebooks provide a clear picture of her early career, while the 1988-1990 notebook provides a view of her work as a mature scholar. The remaining files in this subseries contain Dr. Fowlkes' contracts with Georgia State, selected annual reports, correspondence relating to promotion and tenure, materials concerning her retirement and Professor Emerita appointment, and awards granted by Georgia State University, including the YWCA Award (1991) and the Exceptional Service Award (1998).

The YWCA award has been moved to Series VI: Artifacts.
