Interviewed by Harvey Newman and Andrea Young. Elaine Alexander provides information about her early life and how she came to Atlanta. She discusses how she met with Maynard Jackson, a sanction that occurred at city hall, and her and her husband's move to Atlanta in 1977. Alexander goes over leadership in Atlanta during the 1970s and 1980s, including the Woodruff Foundation in regards to Leadership Atlanta.

Biographical Note
Elaine Alexander, born in Massachusetts in 1934, has lived in Atlanta for nearly 60 years. She was the first female co-director of Leadership Atlanta with Myrtle Davis from 1978 to 1992, is a life board member of the American Jewish Committee and Southeast Region's Anti-Defamation League, and served on the board of the Atlanta Women's Foundation from 1997 to 2004. She was directly involved in many political campaigns, including those of Maynard Jackson, John Lewis, Shirley Franklin and Kasim Reed.
