Scope and Contents of the records
Georgia State University Labor Studies Program records, circa 1983-2013, document the administration of the program; courses, lectures, and seminars held under its auspices, including a class for the AFL-CIO's National Labor College; training held for union locals; and the W. J. Usery, Jr., Center for the Workplace, also at Georgia State University. The records consists of documents donated by Assistant Director of the Labor Studies Program at Georgia State University, Philip Laporte. Documents include course materials, research into course creation, course concept and approval forms, syllabi, agendas, strategic plans, and course evaluations. This collection also includes information and student files from National Labor College Course taught at Georgia State University. Companies represented in this collection include Ford, Eastern Airlines, Southern Bell, AT&T, and Saturn. Unions represented include International Association of Teamsters, United Auto Workers, National Air Traffic Controllers Association, and Graphic Communications International. Dates range from 1980s to the 2000s.
