Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta -- Presidency binder -- Presidency section, 1972-1973

The papers of Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta span two time periods from 1971-1979 and 1990-1992. The bulk of the papers were originally organized into large binders. They have been removed and filed according to their original order. The "Presidency binder" folders (1971-1973) cover Young's service as president of the congregation and chairman of the Board. The constitution and organization materials include annual meeting agendas and minutes, minutes of the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees, a 1972 annual report of the president, and "printed" annual reports for all three years. Materials for the Board of Trustees include agendas and minutes for the group's regular and special meetings. The records of the Finance Council are comprised of budget proposals and a statement of its financial status, and the Financial Statement folder holds statements of cash income and cash disbursements.

Papers from her service as chair of the Ministerial Selections Committee (1974-1975) are in the "Selections Committee binder" records. After the resignation of the minister in 1974, this committee was charged with the task of finding a replacement. A complete listing of the candidates along with letters from Young to each candidate are in the candidates section folder. The correspondence folder has more of these letters with most coming from the minister chosen as the successor. Church newsletters in these folders relate to the selection process.

The general "notebook" folders (1973-1975) include records describing the functions of different councils, booklets on religious education and church programs, interior diagrams of the church, staff directories, and church-affiliated social groups.

After a lengthy time gap, church material resumes in 1991 with Young serving on the the church's Growth Committee. Meeting agendas and minutes for this committee from 1991-1992 are included along with statistics of church attendance, lists of new members, promotional brochures, and copies of advertisements sent to local and regional newspapers. There are also training manuals, one leadership guide, and a summary of events for a program held in 1991 called "Religion That Puts Its Faith in You."
