Scope and Contents of the Sub-Series

Subseries A includes label agreements and contracts between UGWA and individual companies, filed alphabetically by the name of the company. Many of the contracts include correspondence relevant to the contract and lists of rates of pay for each operation required to make a specific garment. Frequently the contracts also include notes, presumably attached to the contracts by union officials, indicating instances of violations of union policy regarding rates of pay, holiday compensation, and other issues. This subseries also includes leases of the UGWA headquarters in New York City (15/1-15/2).

Original order in this subseries is retained. Companies are filed alphabetically, in four alphabetical groupings, grouped by date. Within the subseries, files from accession L1992-17 are filed first, followed by those from accession L1997-08.
