The collection consists of oral history interviews and transcripts, production footage and publicity materials related to the creation of the "Uprising of '34" documentary. Veterans or their descendants were interviewed about mill life, work conditions, southern culture, as well as the strike itself. These interviews were incorporated into the production itself.

Mr. Thomas D. Archer joined The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 926 in 1946 and was elected the Business Manager of the local in 1950. The Thomas D. Archer Collection includes correspondence, photographs, Archer's IUOE membership booklet (1943-1947) and a brief history of his life and achievements.

The papers of Tom Backus, 1966-1981, contain both personal and professional information regarding his affiliation with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 72, and the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry.

Tom Ducy served as General Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), 1987-1993. Collection includes an IAM constitution, 1913; and minutes of IAM Lodge 47, also know as the Pioneer Lodge (Commerce City, Colo.),1889-1891; and a jurisdictional agreement that was part of a collective bargaining agreement with the Curtiss-Wright Corporation Airplane Division, St. Louis Plant, 1942.

The records of the United Association of Plumbers and Steam Fitters of the United States and Canada, Local 72 (Atlanta, Ga.), 1952-1972, consist of correspondence dealing primarily with disputes with other unions over jurisdictional limits and with the entrance requirements, training, examination, restriction and certification of apprentices.

The records of the United Association of Plumbers and Steam Fitters of the United States and Canada, Local 592 (Tallahassee, Fla.), 1954-1968, consist of dues ledgers, financial reports, and correspondence.

The records, 1946-1985, of Carpenters Local 225 (Atlanta, Ga.) contain correspondence, minutes, financial statements, legal papers, work rules, contracts, bylaws, and pamphlets. The primary correspondents for Local 225 are Recording Secretaries T.D. Harper (1946-1949) and J.V. Edmonson (1950-1985).

United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 531 was chartered in 1900, the first trade union organized in the city of St. Petersburg, Florida. Its records, 1900-1977, of United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 531 (St. Petersburg, Florida), comprise mostly minutes and financial documents.

The United Paperworkers International Union (UPIU) was created in 1972 by a merger of the United Papermakers and Paperworkers and the International Brotherhood of Pulp, Sulphite, and Paper Mill Workers. Its records contain correspondence (1967), minutes (1906-1907), printed material (1908, 1973-1984), and a literary manuscript, as well as periodicals, proceedings, and pamphlets.

Alcoa, Tennessee was incorporated in 1919 as a company town for the Aluminum Company of America. Workers there first organized an independent union in 1933. The United Steelworkers of America, Local 309 (Alcoa, Tenn.) collection, 1971-1983, consists of printed material recounting the history of Alcoa, Tennessee, its aluminum industry, and African American workers in the town.

The collection consists of the records of the United Textile Workers of America from 1936-1995. This collection contains documentation about the local unions in the UTWA, both in the United States and Canada. Information on mergers, strikes, finances and conventions is included in these papers. These records were from the UTWA, Southern Region.

The collection consists of the records of the United Textile Workers of America, Southern Region, Area A from 1956-1975. Correspondence (1957-1972) comprises the bulk of the collection. The company files (1957-1967) contain NLRB case material, minutes of negotiation meetings, contract proposals, and financial statements. The collection also includes activity reports, printed material, financial documents, and photographs.

The Records, 1972-1973, of the United Textile Workers of America, Southern Region Area B, consist of correspondence and various printed material created by Roy Whitmire as regional codirector. Correspondents include Everrett (also Southern Codirector) and the International officers and representatives of the TWUA. Topics discussed include NLRB elections, UTWA and TWUA organizing efforts, labor education.

The Records, 1945-1975, of United Textile Workers Union, Southern Region, Area B, consist of correspondence, minutes, legal and financial documents, and printed materials.

United Truck Drivers, Helpers, and Warehousemen, Local Industrial Union 936 of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), was organized in Roanoke, Virginia in 1939. The records consist of a carbon copy of the Article of Agreement between Local 936 and Red Line Trucking and a scrapbook.

The Wayne Walden Papers, 1916-1952, are comprised of personal and business correspondence, literary productions, research notes and printed material.
