Interviewed by Amy Mell. Martinez starts by discussing his family background, emigrating from Mexico and growing up in Chicago. He talks about serving in the military in Mexico, after which he returned to Chicago and goes to work in a cosmetics factory. He recalls going to work for United Airlines, where he went from the kitchen to the ramp and to a truck driver position.
