Abstract:
The United Garment Workers Union (UGWA) was established in 1891. UGWA lost membership when a group of dissatisfied members broke away to form the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America in 1914. Membership levels were steady until the 1950s, when they began a slow decline. In 1994, the UGWA became part of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
