Biographical Note

Merl Elwyn Reed (1925-2016), a noted historian of the American labor movement, was a faculty member in the Department of History at Georgia State University (GSU), 1965-1994. He was instrumental in creating both a credit union and the Southern Labor Archives at the university. Following his retirement, he worked on a history of GSU's early years, published as
