Scope and Content of the Records

These papers span the period of 1967-2009 and document the growth and development of the American Educational Studies Association (AESA). They include an accounts book, correspondence and other papers maintained by organizational historians and secretaries. Budgets and proposed budgets are available to researchers. The documentation of the work of AESA with other organizations such as the American Association of Colleges For Teacher Education (AACTE), Committee on Academic Standards & Accreditation (CASA) and Council for Learned Societies in Education (CLSE) is included in the records.

Much of this collection is comprised of correspondence generated by association officers. It pertains to elections, the planning of conferences, conventions and executive countil meetings. Agendas and conference schedules are included. Information concerning the publication of the association's journal, Educational Studies, and copies of the newsletter News and Comment are part of the collection. In 1978, AESA revised its constitution and a copy of the revised docment is included.
