Scope and Content of the Tonya D. Cook Papers
These papers, spanning from 1988-2002, 2023 [bulk 1988-1989], consist of reference materials collected by Tonya Cook and the special events planning binder which she used as Chairperson for the Women's Life and Development Committee, 1988-1989. The papers document other programs Cook organized to support the GSU community, such as Spotlight, which recognized outstanding female faculty members; Tribute to the Torch Bearers; Women in Civil Rights Forum; and seminars in sexual harassment and the glass ceiling syndrome.
Reference materials consist of articles and papers from 1988-2002. Topics include improving retention rates of African American college students, Georgia State University's recent history in regards to diversity, and the impact of African American leadership at GSU, which resulted in a variety of programs and the implementation of a graduate degree offered in African American Studies.
