History of the Office and Professional Employees International Union
The Office Employees International Union (OEIU) was chartered in 1945 by the American Federation of Labor to represent stenographers, typists, bookkeepers and assistants. In 1965, the union changed its name to the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).
