Scope and Content of the Records

Records concern both Savannah's AFL Council in its opposition to local organizing activity of the CIO, and the subsequent AFL-CIO Council's concern for promoting labor's goals in the city. Political and civic issues important to the labor community - fluoridation, taxes, housing - are discussed, as well as Savannah and Chatham County strikes such as that of the Public Employees, 1967-1970.
