The Howard D. Walton Papers contain one scrapbook, 1955-1959, that documents Walton's career in the labor movement, industry, and politics with photographs, ephemera, and clippings; 3 envelopes of photographs, undated; one letter and photo, 1970; one draft of a scholarly article that quoted Walton with a cover letter from one of the authors, 1993; and a letter, circa 2006.

Biographical Note about Howard D. Walton

Howard D. Walton (1926-2006) was a World War II veteran and Southern Bell Telephone worker who became active in the Communications Workers of America, Local 3107 (Miami, Florida). He rose to be president of the Florida Congress of Industrial Organizations during its merger with the Florida Federation of Labor, moving into government service with the Florida Milk Commission in 1956. After some time in industry and politics, he returned to state work in 1963, serving as staff director for Florida Senate committees and as Executive Director of the Office of the President, Florida Senate, until his 1991 retirement.

Abstract

Howard D. Walton (1926-2006) was president of the Florida Congress of Industrial Organizations during its merger with the Florida Federation of Labor. His collection includes a scrapbook, 1955-1959, documenting his career, as well as photographs and a draft of a scholarly article, 1970, 1993, circa 2006, undated.
