Content Description

The Reverend P.J. Jones scrapbook, 1907-1909, contains correspondence, certificates, and financial documents which relate to Jones' brief association with the International Laborers' Union (Dayton, Ohio). Largely containing form letters from the union, the scrapbook traces the existence of lodge number 84 (Rome, Georgia) from its formation in 1907. Also included in the scrapbook are several unrelated pierces of correspondence and financial documents.

Historical Note

Based in Dayton, Ohio, the International Laborers' Union organized laborers during the early years of the twentieth century. The short-lived union was in competition with the American Federation of Labor-affiliated International Hod Carriers and Building Laborers Union of North America, which later evolved into the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).
