Historical Note

Originally founded in Atlanta in 1888 as a trade union for railroad machinists, today the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers represents workers in a large and diverse number of fields. Over the course of the 20th century the machinists moved from representing railroad workers to machinists and others working for airlines and the aerospace industry. Based in Wichita, Kansas, Local Lodge 733 represented Machinists working at the Beech Aircraft Corporation.

Abstract

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local Lodge 733 (Wichita, Kan.) collection (1939-2005) consists of contracts, photographs, and 6 oral histories. These materials were compiled by members of Local Lodge 733 as part of their local history project. Based in Wichita, Kansas, Local Lodge 733 represented Machinists working at the Beech Aircraft Corporation.

Arrangement

The records are arranged into two series:

  1. Series I: Manuscript Materials, 1939-1942, 1950-1953, 1969-1987
  2. Series II: Oral Histories, 2004-2005

Technical Access Note

The oral histories are recorded on videotapes and minidisc. Access requires 48 hours' notice to create use copies.
