Historical Note
Originally founded in Atlanta in 1888 as a trade union for railroad machinists, today the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers represents workers in a large and diverse number of fields. Over the course of the 20th century the machinists moved from representing railroad workers to machinists and others working for airlines and the aerospace industry.
IAMAW District Lodge 7, represented machinists in Omaha, Nebraska at companies including Dale Electronics, Brunswick, Continental Can Company, White Motor, Industrial Electric Reel, Arcadian Chemicals, Allied Chemical, Omaha World Herald, and American Machine Works.
