Historical note about the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers

The United Machinists and Mechanical Engineers of America was founded in 1888. In 1889, the name was changed to National Association of Machinists. Two years later, it became known as the International Association of Machinists and in 1965, this was changed to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

IAMAW Local Lodge 1863 represented all workers covered under the Collective Agreements negotiated between the Company (known variously as The Dominion Road Machinery Co. Ltd., Champion Road Machinery Ltd., Volvo Motor Graders Ltd., and Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd.) and the Local Lodge from 1944 to 2010. Since September, 2010, Local Lodge 1863 ceased to exist following the closure of the Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd. factories and related offices.

IAMA W Local Lodge 1863 represented all workers covered under the Collective Agreements negotiated between the Company (known variously as The Dominion Road Machinery Co.
