Historical Note

Ervin Drake composed the music and lyrics for "No Restricted Signs in Heaven" in the early 1940s. According to Mr. Drake, the song, which was recorded in 1946 and submitted to Capitol Records, was rejected by one of Johnny Mercer's business partners because its civil rights theme might harm Capitol's business.
