History of Jazz and Swing Foundation
The Jazz and Swing Foundation was a non-profit organization founded in 1986. Its expressed purpose was to collect and preserve jazz and swing sound recordings and information about jazz and swing music and musicians. The collection of sound recordings and the foundation's office files were transferred to Georgia State University in August 1988 when the Jazz and Swing Foundation ceased to exist.

The Jazz and Swing Foundation was a non-profit organization that existed 1986-1988, in order to collect and preserve jazz and swing sound recordings and information about jazz and swing music and musicians. Its records contain board and organizational information as well as various subject files.

Separated Materials
During processing a substantial number of non-manuscript materials was separated to other collections. Several books on jazz and popular music were cataloged and added to the Special Collections books. Over 3,000 45rpm discs, 78rpm discs, 33rpm discs, reel-to-reel tapes, 8-track cassettes, analog cassettes, compact disks and instantaneous discs were entered in the Popular Music Collection sound database and housed with the Popular Music Collection sound recordings. Consult Special Collections for access.
