Scope and Contents of the Papers
The Chris Valley papers, 1962-2009, consist of correspondence and printed material, including reports, periodicals and articles, pamphlets and publicity material, programs and invitations, and procedural documents. The materials document Valley's work at the non-profit organization, Families First, as well as other aspects of his professional career.

Biography of Chris Valley
Christopher Richard Valley had a long career at Families First, a non-profit family service agency based in Atlanta. As Vice President for Program Development, Valley initiated several programs, including Domestic Crisis Intervention (DCI) in 1976, Teen-age Pregnancy and Parent Program (TAPP) in 1986, and many others. He also served as Chief Administrative Officer of Families First.
Valley joined Families First in 1975. He earned his M.A. in Community Organization and Social Planning from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration (1973), and his B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) at Boston College in Sociology and Anthropology (1970). He also completed the University of Delaware's Nonprofit Management Certificate Course and earned a certificate from the Fund Raising School at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Chris Valley also served as a part-time instructor of social work at Georgia State University's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.
