Historical Note

Grady Memorial Hospital, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the largest public hospitals and busiest Level 1 trauma centers in the United States. The largest hospital in the state of Georgia, it opened in 1892, named for Henry W. Grady, the Atlanta Constitution journalist and advocate for a public city hospital. Jack Spiceland served as an anesthesiologist at Grady.
