Historical Note

Founded as a trade union for machinists in the railroad industry in 1888, the International Association of Machinists was a very large industrial union by the 1950s, representing workers in the aerospace and other industries. James W. (Jim) Malott served as General Vice President, Organizing Department of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, as the union was renamed in 1964.

Jim Malott served as the General Vice President, Organizing Department of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), AFL-CIO in Washington D.C. His collection consists of organizing aids used by the IAM in the 1950s.
